Our Top Ten Travel Essentials
We’ve all had moments where we get to the airport and realize that we’ve completely forgotten something. Or, even worse, we get to the destination and our checked luggage didn’t exactly make it there with us (happened to us on our honeymoon!)
Now that we’re older, wiser, and more prepared (let’s be honest, losing our luggage on our honeymoon in Italy built some character) there are some items we never travel without in our carry-ons.
We’ve put together this list of our favourite travel essentials to help you enjoy your vacation without worrying about the things you left behind:
If you’re traveling abroad and your destination doesn’t share the same plugs as you, you need something reliable. This Apple adapter is the best we’ve found, allowing us to charge all of our phones and laptops via USB C. For a 3 prong travel adapter, use this link.
Keeping your cables and adapters in order makes the journey smoother, especially when you’re moving from place to place. Peak Design’s tech pouch has several pouches and dividers to keep you on the move.
These are a must-have for frequent flyers. We have four, and when we are traveling we keep one in our checked luggage, personal item and carry on. Whenever we land in a new country, it gives us so much peace of mind to know that our checked bag made it with us! And if it didn’t, we know exactly where to find it.
Having a water bottle with you makes your days easier, especially in Europe. This Owala is our favourite because of its straw and carabiner lock, just make sure to empty it out before security!
If you’re travelling between accommodations frequently during your trip, packing cubes will help you out. Not only do they save space by compressing your clothes, they make packing out a lot faster.
Versatility is one of the most important things we think about when packing, and these Hoka Shoes check all the boxes. Comfortable for walking all day (especially on a European vacation!), and breathable enough to wear at the beach, these are an ideal travel shoe, and they look great too.
Travel days are long and making sure your phone is charged is essential. This Ventev Power Bank is a great choice; it sticks right to your phone thanks to magsafe so you don’t have to worry about any cables.
Nomatic Collapsible Travel Tote
We find that having a small tote bag for day trips makes travelling easier. You don’t have to empty out your backpack of everything you don’t need for a day at the beach or a hike, just bring this collapsible bag and enjoy the adventure.
Capturing your vacation is essential, and this Long Weekend camera is a perfect travel companion. Its a reusable film camera with all the ease of use of a disposable, and will fit into any bag. Developing your vacations pics will give you another whole wave of joy!
Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones
Good headphones make flights feel shorter. These Sony ones are some of the best over-ear headphones for flying, as they boast excellent noise cancelling and audio quality.
We hope you enjoy these recommendations, and that they get you excited and prepared for your vacation!
